TNT and Vista - Does capturing work proberly?

Unread post by Leippe »

TNT-Version: 2.1
Operating System: Vista

When I try to capture a window in combination with a dialogue box in front of it (with both options: »a window, control or menu« and »a free region of the desktop«) the selection won't function properly. Also the command »ctrl + click« doesn't work.

Hi Matthias,

TNT has not yet been completely updated for Vista compatibility, there are a few problems, most of which can be worked around:
  1. The problems you describe are probably caused by setting a non-standard font size for the Windows user interface. If you return to the standard font size you should be able to capture most program windows and dialogs normally.
  2. If you have the transparent Aero interface active in Vista you need to minimize TNT to the Taskbar before using the Free Region capture option. Otherwise TNT itself will only be half "faded away" and will produce a transparent ghost image over your capture.
  3. Some programs cannot be captured. For example, Internet Explorer windows in Vista and some Windows system windows behave as though they were not there for TNT. At the moment the only solution you can use here is to use Free Region capture or use the built-in Snipping Tool in Vista.
Parts of the help in TNT (the interactive tutorial displayed when you first start the program and the What'sThis? help) still use WinHelp. You can make the help work by downloading Microsoft's new WinHelp update for Vista. However, doing this may not be a good idea for developing help because most users won't have this package. (Microsoft does not allow developers to include this package in their own distribution, users must all download and install it themselves.)
