Deep L Translating - Sharing with translator

Unread post by Ga Bowen »

I intend to have various technical documents translated with DeepL.

We have various translators we use depending on language/price etc. I would like to do as follows:

Purchase an extra licence that can be utilised by the current translator being used.
Have the translator remotely access our project.
Translator translates with DeepL and proofreads.
Translator syncs project and we Publish.

Does this sound plausible?

Absolutely. The most efficient way to do this would be if you already have Floating licenses. Then you can issue a license to the translator yourself, and then you can revoke it again when the work is completed by changing the PIN code for your license pool.

That sounds good. We currently run pro. Would we have to upgrade ourselves to a floating licence and purchasing an extra one for the translator?

Would it be easy enough to sync to our server then? What do I need to look at from the H+M end?

The new floating licenses are highly flexible. You are no longer tied to a server, they work locally on the user's computer, in exactly the same way as a Pro license, with the same functionality. The only difference is that the program checks for a free license slot in your license pool on our license server when it starts, and checks one out if it is available.

Even if you only have one floating license, you can install Help+Manual and register it with the license on as many computers as you like. The only restriction is on the number of users who can run it at the same time. If you have two floating licenses, two users in any location can be using the program at the same time, for example. If you have three licenses then three users, and so on.

How many you need depends on your team size and workflow. And as I noted above, you can issue a license to a temporary worker like a translator yourself, and then revoke it when the job is over by defining a PIN code for your license pool and then changing it when you're done.

Would it be easy enough to sync to our server then? What do I need to look at from the H+M end?
It would be exactly the same as any two users working on Help+Manual on their own computers in different locations now, because it is exactly the same. Since the translator would be working on the finished project, you wouldn't even need to use version control. You would just send him/her the final version of the project in English and you would get the translated version back.
