How do I move the topic text in PFD manual designer?

Unread post by Tansy »

I need to move down all the elements in the Topics page of the Print manual designer, can I do that? Also, I am trying to group all these items to move them together but Shift+Click doesn't seem to work. How do I move them?

Hi Tansy,

You don't move those elements at all. Please don't try to do this! Each heading is only used on the matching level -- it is as though none of the other headings are on the page in terms of that level. Each heading MUST remain within its own "band" and you add space on the resulting page by editing inside that band. Please see the section on the Topics page of the Manual Designer help for full instructions. If you don't study that you won't be able to edit this section properly.

Note that the red outlines indicate that your text elements are extending beyond the margins. You can move and resize them accurately with SHIFT + Arrow Keys and CTRL + Arrow Keys. The red outline will disappear when they are back inside the margins.

The topic text placeholder in your example is much too small. It should be at least 3 lines high, and the band around it should only be slightly larger than it, if at all. The width of the placeholder defines the width of the content from your project. Its height, together with the band, defines the height of the smallest block of text that will be kept together when a topic starts on the bottom of a page. Here too, please study the help chapter for full details.
