Insert Hyperlink automatic captions

Hi Support,

Our document writer has noticed that since v10, the Insert Hyperlink to Topic feature no longer automatically updates the caption with the selected target title. Instead, they now need to right-click or use CTRL+1 to update it manually.

Was there, or is there, a preference in v9 that enabled this to happen automatically?

I know that there is a check box to say the caption is a variable, however previously the caption in the insert link field updated as the target was selected from the list, and the inserted target in H&M showed the caption not <%TARGETTITLE%>

There is a tiny glitch in the Insert Link dialog. When you insert a new link and do not select any text, the caption is initialed with the generic text "New Link". This generic text should be automatically overwritten with the target topic title, once you select a topic from the list.

The Insert/Edit link dialog maintains an internal caption-is-sticky-flag, in order to not overwrite your preselected text automatically. This flag should not be set for new links with empty caption text.

We will fix this with the next build.

This has nothing to do with the variable using <%TARGETTITLE%>. By using the variable in the caption, the link caption gets updated (during export, not in the editor) with the target topic title, whatever the target topic title is at that time.
